National Observatory of Athens
Ahead of the official opening of the exhibition
Ahead of the official opening of the exhibition, the National Observatory of Athens — the first research centre of Greece — will host a special event at its central facilities on the Hill of the Nymphs in Thiseio, bringing people of the arts into direct contact with the scientific observation of the sky. The event will include an observation of the night sky, highlighting the unique experience of contact with the Universe through the historic telescopes of the National Observatory of Athens.
At the Planetarium of the Eugenides Foundation, the public will have the opportunity to take part in “Live Space Tours”, on dates to be announced. The tours make use of the Planetarium’s advanced space-flight simulation system, connecting scientific knowledge with the sensation of a real journey through space and carrying the central idea of Synastry into the Universe itself.
Arsakeio Arcade
Saturday 26 September
On Saturday 26 September, under the light of the Full Moon, the new Arsakeio Arcade will host a distinctive poetic evening, during which the poets taking part in Synastry will read, in the atrium of the Arcade, the poems they wrote especially for the project. Poetry will meet the night sky, carrying the path of the exhibition into the heart of Athens and giving voice to the constellations of language. A musical event dedicated to the Full Moon will follow immediately after.
With respect for everyone’s right to equal access to art, the exhibition includes tactile renderings of works, audio narratives and specially designed material, allowing people with visual impairment to approach the works through different senses.
